What is the Readership of Anandabazar Patrika Newspaper ?
Anandabazar Patrika was founded by Suresh Chandra Majumdar and Prafulla Kumar Sarkar in the year 1922. This newspaper would become one of the most iconic regional language newspapers in all of India. Anandabazar Patrika was originally launched as a four-page evening daily and, over the years, the newspaper has grown to become the largest selling Bengali language daily newspaper in not just Kolkata, but across West Bengal. On any given day, it is estimated that Anandabazar Patrika has more than 1.2 million copies of the newspaper in circulation on average, with a total readership estimated to be more than 12.7 million people, according to the Indian Readership Survey of the 3rd quarter in 2019. Anandabazar Patrika is the preferred choice for a large number of people in the region, and is nothing less than a household name for Bengalis, and it is an integral part of contemporary Bengali life. Readership figures are significantly higher than circulation figures because it is assumed that a single issue of a newspaper is typically read by more than one person.
Calculation
How is the Circulation Measured of Anandabazar Patrika Newspaper?
Anandabazar Patrika is the Bengali language newspaper with the highest sales volume in India, and it provides its readers with a diverse selection of content along with the latest news. The newspaper is undoubtedly a publication that is widely circulated. The Audit Bureau of Circulations of India is the organisation that conducts certifications and audits of circulation figures of the country’s major publications, including newspapers and magazines. Circulation figures help newspapers and magazines determine the cost of advertising. The term ‘circulation’ refers to the total number of copies of a newspaper or magazine that are distributed on average per day. The circulation figure includes paid circulation (i.e. copies of the publication that have been purchased) as well as free circulation (i.e. copies of the publication that have been distributed free of charge). This figure is important because it helps advertisers decide which newspapers or magazines to place their advertisements in.
Reasons
What are the Auditory Bodies Which Report on readership figures?
In India, the National Readership Survey (NRS) and the Indian Readership Survey (IRS), which have been the two primary readership surveys in the country, have come together to form the Readership Studies Council of India (RSCI) after the Media Research Users’ Council adopted the proposal to do so during its annual general meeting in September 2011. The erstwhile National Readership Survey was a survey of all media but with a focus on print media, and it was conducted by the National Readership Survey Council, which consisted of members from the Indian Newspaper Society (INS), the Advertising Associations of India (AAI) and the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC). The Indian Readership Survey, as of today, is the largest continuous readership research study in the world. Its annual sample size exceeds 2,56,000 respondents, and it is conducted by the Media Research Users’ Council and the Readership Studies Council of India (RSCI).
